Our mission is to increase women’s participation in trail and ultra running and we are delighted to announce our partnership with Salomon
At Girls Run the World, our mission is to increase women’s participation in endurance sport. As part of this mission, we launched our V Ultra Alps initiative this August. Its aim is to increase women’s participation in trail running and increase diversity on the trails.
As the world’s leading brand in trail running, we are delighted that Salomon are supporting our mission. Their tag line, ‘Time to Play’ fits perfectly with our approach to helping women explore and embrace the fun, excitement and adventure of exploring the outdoors.
Together, with access to their team of sponsored female athletes, we hope to inspire more women to take to the trails and the inspiring outdoor spaces around them.
What the initiative involves
The V Ultra Alps, provides women from around the world with the opportunity to take part in a virtual event, which involves running 106 miles around the Alps over a month or a week, on a route that emulates the iconic Ultra Trail De Mont Blanc.
Mapping their mileage day by day, each participant can stay motivated and accountable by seeing where they are on the virtual route.
Online training content
They can also access the Girls Run the World unique online programme content, featuring videos with female coaches in ultra running, explaining trail running techniques, navigation, recovery workouts and more.
Sharing the inspiration and learning
Through sharing images on Instagram, Twitter and the Girls Run the World Strava club using the hashtags: #grtwrunhigh #grtwdiversity, women are inspiring each other as well as helping to further drive participation.
Throughout the campaign, Girls Run the World founder, Rachael Woolston will be interviewing women from the world of running, trail running and ultra running to examine issues of representation and diversity on the Girls Run the World podcast..
