GRTW Runderlust – top running travel destinations

From hip artists communities to incredible food, this weekend’s runderlust list brings some perfect Autumn inspiration for a weekend get away  Ljubljana marathon Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia, once former Yugoslavia until it gained it’s independence in June 1991. As one of the smallest cities, in one of the smallest countries in Europe, it perhaps makes for one of the best capitals in which to combine a marathon with a city break. Save your legs and take the glass-walled funicular up to the medieval fortress of Ljubljana Castle , then take a mooch through the Old Town’s maze of narrow

Sweet recovery treats for runners

You know that moment when your training – running or triathlon -tips you over the edge from, ‘Ohh, I’m smashing it, I feel so fit and healthy,’ to ‘Ohh, I’m still smashing it but, eek, I keep eating cake ALL the time!’? Yep, that time! Suddenly your running tights feel, well, even tighter despite all the running. More importantly though, overeating all that sugar plays havocs with your hormones AND it contributes to the inflammation that your muscles are already suffering from the training which means you don’t recover as well. What to do if you didn’t get a London Marathon ballot entry

Have you been disappointed in not getting an entry to the 2020 London marathon for the first/fifth/tenth time? If you want to increase your chances of getting into London 2021 WITHOUT having to enter the ballot or get a charity place, read on our advice about how to go about it… Get a good for age marathon place WAIT! GRTW Runderlust – our look at this weekend’s bucket list races

Pack your binoculars! This weekend’s race round-up takes in sea views from all four corners of the British Isles, and maybe the chance of spotting a sea creature or two… Loch Ness Marathon (plus 10k, 5k and junior races) Obviously there’s the stunning loch (lake) and spectacular Highland scenery – but we all know that the real draw here is the search for Nessie…. And what better distraction to get you through 26.2, than the chance of a monster-spot?!  Prepare for cold weather, splendidly wild isolation (there are few crowds around these parts, though you may get a cheer from
