About the course

Choose one discipline, running, swimming or cycling. Then do it every day. Simple. Choose between two entry categories:

Option One - any distance, any speed. Whether you run/ride/swim 100 metres a day or 1km, it is totally up to you. Just enjoy the consistency of moving every day.

Option Two - Queens of Endurance - focus on a target to work on your endurance.

  • Run - 250kms over the month
  • Ride - 500kms over the month
  • Swim - 10km over the month

Complete the challenge while sharing the trials and tribulations, support and successes along the way.

Beyond the challenge, this is about supporting and inspiring others on the challenge. We want you to share your  journey to your own finish line via any and all channels.

Tag us on facebook, twitter, instagram or Strava with the hashtag #grtwrunuary. Photos are encouraged. We will share and award spot prizes to the best images and engagements over the course of the month.

On successful completion, we will send your GRTW Runuary finisher's running vest (UK only. Additional P&P for Channel Islands and international partcipants).

FAQs

Can I choose to do more than one discipline?

No, choose one and stay consistent. This brings the biggest improvements.

How far should I run/cycle/swim each day?

It is completely up to you. But we would recommend, whatever level you are, that you have easy, recovery days.

What if we go into lockdown?

Swimming might be the only thing that is affected. If this happens, you can switch to running or cycling.

Can I cycle, swim or ride indoors?

Yes, turbo, treadmills, indoor swimming is fine.

Do I have to do it every day?

Yes, unless you are doing the Queen's of Endurance category, in which case you need to reach that distance by the end of the month.

How do I prove how far I have done at the end of the challenge?

We ask you to input your final distance, and include a link to your Strava/Garmin/Fitbit data at the end of the challenge. But this is an honesty system, and we can not check every particpant.

If you enter the Queenf of Endurance Challenge, there will be prizes for the fastest woman in each discipline. To be eligible for prizes, you must include a screenshot of total distance and time from a tracking device.

Will there be a leaderboard?

No, but we will manually create a leaderboard for the Queens of Endurance top three in each discipline.

Do you have any training plans to help me structure my month?

We have included some sample weeks for running, cycling and swimming. But it is up to you to use your common sense, or ask for advice from your fellow participants in our Facebook or Strava community.

When will I receive my finisher's vest?

We will close orders on 1st January 2021. From then it will take between four to six weeks for the vests to be produced and despatched arriving mid-February at the latest.

How do I upload my results?

We will send you an email with a link to submit your results at the end. And we will include it in the course programme towards the end. Add your details together with your accumulated distance and time if you have it by our deadline, 5th February 2021.

You can run/bike/swim anywhere, anytime. Outside on road, trail, on the treadmill, round your garden, anywhere. But please only count sessions where you have actively gone out to add to your distance, not simply steps around the house or as part of your normal day to day movement.

When is the deadline for submitting results?

The deadline is 5th February 2021.
