Valencia 10km or Marathon, November 30th – December 3rd, 2018
As the weather in the UK turns grey and cold, why not join us in the fantastic city of Valencia for some blue sky, sunshine and fantastic running?
Valencia has it all, a city that combines history and hipness, city living and beachside hangouts. Plus, if you’re a foodie, you’ll LOVE the variety of cuisine that’s on offer here, from fresh seafood in tiny local tavernas with Port in aged oak barrels to cool, urban eateries. We are taking only 14 guests on this trip, so perfect whether you’re doing a 10km or taking on your first marathon.
What we provide with our trips is an anxiety-free, small group experience where you’ll have the choice to explore and go off by yourself if you want but where you can also join us on our optional extras, secure in the knowledge that you’ll be enjoying some of the very best places to eat and explore.
The trips are put together by the founder of GRTW, Rachael Woolston, who used to a former travel editor for BusinessLife. And If that is not enough, the first FOUR women to book our marathon package will get our marathon mentoring package FREE (worth up to £270) for 12 weeks.*
To give you a flavour of the trip:
Arrive at the five star SH Valencia Palace , less than 2km away from the marathon and 10km start line.
You will have the afternoon to enjoy the city, whether you choose to catch a bus into the main city, or take a ten minute stroll down to the gorgeous beach of Valencia where you can enjoy lunch or a drink.
On Friday evening, we’ll meet at the hotel for a welcome drink before going off to dinner at a fantastic little taverna in the beach area of Valencia, renowned for it’s food with a fantastic atmosphere – you even have to duck under the main bar to access the restaurant, a little like going through the wardrobe into Narnia.
Before breakfast, we’ll take you on a short leg turner run to help you explore the area and get an idea of the start line of the race so that you feel comfortable. Then it’s back to your hotel for breakfast.
Those that choose to can then join us on a city bike tour that will take you round all the main sites. This will be a leisurely tour so won’t tax your legs. Otherwise, you can choose to take a walk, enjoy the hotel’s facilities or visit the nearby neighbourhoods where we can give you information about the best coffee places to go to (great cakes) or markets for shopping.
In the evening, we’ll go for an early dinner before we retire for the race.
A specially arranged early breakfast at the hotel and then we will catch the free bus shuttle to the start line that is arranged by the city of Valencia. Once you’ve finished your marathon or 10km, we’ll be there to greet you – and hopefully if we can get access to snap you coming over the finish line.
A beer or cocktail as celebration for those who fancy it and then an afternoon at your leisure. Join us at the beach for a swim or paddle to let those legs recover if you fancy it.
We’ll then meet for an early evening meal in one of the city’s hippest but most affordable restaurants, the last of the trip to celebrate everyone’s achievements.

WHAT GRTW CUSTOMERS HAVE SAID ABOUT OUR TRIPS:
‘I signed up for the GRTW Palma trip because I thought it was a great challenge to do my first half marathon and make a weekend of it. The trip itself was amazing, we had a beautiful hotel, went to lovely restaurants as a group and had time and space to do our own thing. Smaller groups went out on different trips and at times we’d all bump into each other, or give each the run down of top tips we’d experienced in case anyone else fancied doing the same thing. Other times we all just sunbathed or drank cocktails. It was fab! Standing in the sun with our medals, beers and bananas after the race with all the girls and their smiley faces was one of the best moments!’
The evening celebratory meal just topped it off, we had an amazing room in a historic restaurant all to ourselves, drank too much wine and nattered all evening about our race experiences. Everyone was so supportive, and we were all super proud of each other. I absolutely loved it!
‘Great organisation and the general information on where to go, what to do and see was excellent. I came to Lake Garda feeling very relaxed, always good on your first international race/weekend away on your own.’
‘GRTW trips are a must, not only to say that you have participated in an international race but you get to know some amazing women. And aside from the running side of things, you get to experience great food, drink, locations and sporting activities. I am already looking forward to the next one!’
‘If you’re wondering whether to go, just do it! You will have so much fun, sightsee somewhere new whilst running, meet and be inspired by like minded ladies and get a break from the old routine and do something different that you’ll always remember.‘
